Manhattanhenge

The sun shines down 42th Street in New York City at sunset during the “Manhattanhenge”, July 12, 2011. “Manhattanhenge” occurs when the setting sun aligns itself with the east-west grid of streets in Manhattan, allowing the sun to shine down all streets at the same time.   ” The dates of Manhattanhenge are usually around May 28 and July 12 or July 13. In 2011, Manhattanhenge occurred on May 31 at 8:17 p.m., and will occur again on July 12 (full sun) and 13 (half sun), both at 8:25 p.m., according to Neil deGrasse Tyson of the American Museum of Natural History.”
