Harlem Meer offers breath-taking landscapes and family related activities, such as catch-and-release fishing, two playgrounds, jazz and dancing in the summer. The Meer (“Meer” is Dutch for “Lake”) is a large body of water on eleven-acres of space, surrounded by some of Central Park’s most impressive trees: ginkgo, oak, beech and bald cypress. The Meer is located at the Northeast corner of the park by the Dana Discovery Center. Nearby Attractions: Conservatory Garden, French Garden, Italian Garden, English Garden, as well as the Vanderbilt Gate.
