Ice Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center
The Ice Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center is at the center of it all. Ice Skating in the middle of New York City with skyscrapers towering over you is such a surreal experience, highly recommended for those visiting during holiday season. Rockefeller Center is such a special place that you immediately think of the holidays even if you live in New York. The Ice Skating Rink was supposed to be a temporary fixture in 1936 until they figured out what to do. Here we are 75 years later and the rink is still a New York City embalm of joy. Only 122 feet long and 60 feet wide, it can only handle 150 people at a time which in skating terms is kind of nice. The best feature about the skating rink is the world famous Christmas Tree which is situated right over the rink. There are places to dine by the rink if you want to relax and take in the view. Nearby attractions: Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring “The Rocketttes”, Shops, NBC Studio, The Rock, Saks Fifth Avenue, American Girl Place, Lego Store, and Del Frisco’s.
